The printed circuit board is often a significant cost of a product. Even with less expensive boards from offshore suppliers the circuit board still may account for 20% to 50% of the assembled unit.

Routability encourages customers to review their products and we have even taken on cost-reduction exercises to demonstrate savings to customers.

There are various reasons to re-engineer a product - obsolescence, improvement in performance; but cost-reductions may be achieved by a simple review of the technology employed in the pcb design and the cost of re-design is often insignificant compared to the overall savings achieved.
